Marlet joins IGBC’s Environmental Product Declarations campaign
We are delighted to announce that we recently joined the Irish Green Building Council’s EPDs campaign in an effort to help fully decarbonise Ireland’s construction industry.
EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) help quantify the environmental impact of a product over its given lifetime – from its creation, through its use, to when it ends up in a landfill – and provide environmental information on the company manufacturing that product.
EPDs create a place for transparency and help us choose products in a more ethically and environmentally friendly way, preferring materials excluding harmful chemicals so as to not endanger occupiers health and be a threat for our ecosystem.
By joining this campaign, we commit to promote and request the use of EPDs on all our projects. We will raise awareness among our staff, architects, contractors and sub-contractors in order to stimulate the demand and drive more manufacturers to produce EPDs in Ireland.
Pat Crean, Marlet CEO said: “ The IGBC’s EPDs commitment campaign is proving essential to raise awareness among the industry. I believe now it is our responsibility, as property developer, to lead the way, support and guide our contractors and partners, and help transform our built environment to a carbon neutral sector.”
