College House, Townsend Street

The new development at College House aims to create a striking contemporary and environmentally sustainable ‘Grade A’ office building which incorporates an entertainment facility to replace the Screen Cinema, and will significantly improve the urban amenity and neighbourhood in which it sits. Designed in combination with the recently granted proposals for Hawkins House and Apollo House, the extended pedestrian route through the site creates permeability and an animated, humanly scaled streetscape, with space for cafes, restaurants and a new entertainment facility. The new entertainment facility and associated restaurant and bar will ensure an active and vibrant plaza, enlivened by both day and night time uses. It’s unique and distinctive landscaping and soffit will ensure a public plaza that is both engaging and entertaining in its own right, bringing the theatrical spirit and history of the site to life in the contemporary urban realm.
